Open letter to the Braddock District citizens' panel on transportation - June 24, 2003
In the aftermath of the sales tax referendum defeat, Braddock District Supervisor Sharon Bulova, who also serves as the Board of Supervisors budget committee chairman, convened "A Community Dialog on Transportation and Land Use." Between January and May this panel heard from ten government administrators, four elected officials, and from a smart-growth advocate. Supervisor Bulova, however, did not arrange for the panel to hear the anti-referendum perspective. Unsurprisingly the panel voted to approve a recommendation for higher taxes. The Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance president wrote this open letter to Supervisor Bulova, who in turn agreed to forward it to the members of her citizens' panel.
